Umugwanez Ada
Is a Rwandan traditional and contemporary dancer and choreographer
Umugwaneza Ada Jeanne is a dancer from Rwanda; she has a Diploma of traditional and
contemporary dances of Africa at Ecole des Sables for three years. She did Art residence at Nafasi
art space organized by Muda Africa “teaching program for dance teacher”
She started dancing at Abatarutwa cultural troupe in 2007, where she works now as a coach and
choreographer, disciplinary. In 2010 she started her training in contemporary dance with Guy
Beaujot, and she participated in one of his video called “Agaciro”. . She participated at the Festival
“East Africa Night Tolerance” in 2015 and 2016 with her piece duet “One plus one equal three”
with Murekatete Joselyne .
In 2016 she created her solo “other root” about the Rwanda Genocide against Tutsi, developed at
the Ecole des Sables.
2018, 2019 : “Ikamba 1 & 2” in the Easter Africa Night Tolerance festival (EANT) – trio for 3
women dancers about important feminine figures of Rwandan history, 2018: Les halles Schaerbeek
/ Brussels – 1 month, 2019: with Kettly Noel organized by EANT festival, Amizero Kompany – 3
weeks
She currently works as a dancer, teacher and trainer of Rwandan traditional dances like
Umushayayo, umuhamirizo, Ikinimba, Ikinyemara, Intwatwa, etc.
At Abatarutwa cultural troupe that works for
the Presidential Museum of Rwanda.
She is a singer of holy entrance family ministry and winners worship team of living word church.
Passionate of dance and hard worker, She dreams of being a choreographer and performer, and for
that she plans on keep research how can create platform of arts and keep training younger and upcoming artists.
